Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport Terminal Expansion

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport handles 1.2 million passengers annually, leading the state of Montana in enplanements. The Bozeman airport (BZN) is an important transportation portal to the Greater Yellowstone region, providing a friendly first impression and a fond farewell. The airport is respected in the industry for providing state-of-the-art amenities and a comfortable customer experience. The Hennebery Eddy Comma-Q Studio designed the nearly 70,000-square-foot terminal expansion by building on characteristics of the existing airport. The new spaces respect past efforts while moving into the 21st century.

The expansion features a large central space, or Great Hall, and provides five new passenger gates; high-quality and convenient air-side food, beverage, and concession areas; additional retail options; and provisions for future expanded outbound baggage handling. Circulation, seating, and views are organized around a central fireplace and chimney. Local and familiar materials reinforce design ideas by referencing the geology and mountain ranges of the region. Exposed stone masonry was quarried locally from the nearby Gallatin Canyon, and large areas of glass frame awe-inspiring views of the Bridger Mountain Range, providing an air travel experience that is unique to BZN.
